School of Agriculture is among Punjab and India’s Best Agriculture colleges. It lays thrust on carrying out research in agricultural and allied fields. Students from the School of Agriculture have won Inter-University Regional Competition on Water Resources Management for their proposal on floating Island approach for sustainable development of Kanjli wetland, Kapurthala.

Project on Floating Island

The project involves introduction of floating islands for water management and improving sanitation and regulation of water quality & restoration of water table with the help of biological agents.

Sharing Thoughts with Fellow Students

Students had a research stay and an edu-excursion Camp at TERI University New Delhi where they shared their innovative projects about “sustainable water resource management” with other students.

Among the Winners in National Competition

Students were declared 1st Runner-up in Inter-University National Competition on Water Resources Management for their project on floating Island approach for development of Kanjli wetland (in District Kapurthala, Punjab).

Flying Farmer – An Innovative Approach

A drone which can be guided by remote control can be used on agriculture land to analyze the soil nutrient status and water stress is an innovation by LPU students to simplify farming experience.

Haqaeponics – Novel Agricultural Technology

Haqaeponic project showcases a novel technology in which plants are grown in artificial environment without soils with hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics.

Hydroponics – Mineral Nutrient Solution

The project involves growing of various crops using mineral nutrient solution. Thus learners learn the art of growing with the ethics of mineral nutrients.

Block level training/ camp

On 24 October 2017, the School of agriculture has organized a block level farmer’s training camp, in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Punjab at the Campus in which about 200 farmers and post-graduate students participated with positive intent and response

Village attachment of students

The interaction with farmers in adjoining villages namely Palahi, Meharu, Raipur, Bidala, Daddwall, etc., has provided significant information about problems and challenges faced by the local farmers and the School of Agriculture is planning for effective address of the same.

Spring Flower Show

The School of Agriculture has organized “Spring Flower Show” on 24-25th Feb 2018. The entry was asked in 9 classes and 97 sections comprising of fresh /dry flower arrangement, different flowers, cacti, succulent, foliage and perennial flowering plants.

Nutritional awareness camp on “Safe and nutritious food for school children”

The camp was organised on 22 June 2018 by School of Agriculture for the rural students of 10th standard with the objective of healthy eating habits and how to cope up with the stress of adolescent changes.

Nutritional awareness camp for rural women

A nutritional awareness camp regarding the importance of diet and its relation with health was conducted in June 2018 for the benefit of rural women in nearby villages.

Training programme on fruit vegetable preservation

The camp was organized in collaboration with School of Agriculture and Punjab Government under the mission of “Healthy Punjab Programme” in which rural women, unemployed youth and farmers of Hardaspur participated.

Training camp on kharif season crops

A training camp was organized regarding the cultivation of important kharif season crops such as rice, maize and other crops on 18th July 2018.

1st Prize at AIU’s Research Convention- ‘ANVESHAN’

Lovely Professional University agriculture & bio-sciences students, Kunal Adhikary and Amandeep Singh have brought laurels to the university by winning first prize at Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) North Zone Research Convention- ‘ANVESHAN’.

SAFNS 2018 Held Successfully at LPU
